Family's link with St Fergus
The last link with a former lengthy association with the Burn Mill, St Fergus, has been removed with the death of Mr Alexander Cardno, Katteburn, Inverugie, in his ninety-fifth year.
The milling business was in the hands of Mr Cardno's grandfather, and later of his father, and when the latter died, as a young man, Mr Cardno carried on until his retirement at the age of sixty-nine.
Apart from his wide connection with farmers while at the mill, Mr Cardno took a particularly keen interest in horticulture, and was an enthusiastic supporter of the St Fergus flower show in former years. Even after going into retirement at Kan he hae retained his interest in flowers, and he spent much of his time in the care of a large garden.
Mr Cardno is survived by a family of three sons and three daughters.

LAD DROWNED AT FRASERBURGH.
A sad case of drowning was brought to light at Fraserburgh yesterday. On Thursday afternoon a lad named William Cardno, aged ten, son of Wm. Cardno, fisherman, was playing with a younger brother in North Street, when he suddenly disappeared. Not turning up late at night, the police were informed, but, though the town was searched, no trace of him could be found. Yesterday the local divers searched the harbour, and during the afternoon the body of the lad was found in Balaclava harbour, near the foot of North Street.","All"
