Campbell White and his young family were at No. 1 at the time of the census in 1901. He was a bookbinder and finisher, born in Edinburgh on 31 December 1872, son of house painter Alexander White and Agnes Mackenzie. He died at Drumseugh Gardens on 2 January 1930.
In 1898 Cambell White married Helen Hughes Simpson (1877-1936) in Edinburgh, and their first son, Alexander, born in 1900 was also present at No. 1 Malta Terrace in 1901.
