George Adam and his large family were resident at No. 6 when the 1901 census was taken, but do not appear to have lived there for long. He was born at Monymusk on 2 August 1843, son of Peter Adam, a joiner, and his wife Catherine Gerrie. In 1901 he was described as a merchant draper, having worked his way up from being warehouseman in 1871.
George Adam married Isabella Moir on 24 September 1879 at Netherton farm, Thornhill, near Stirling. She was born 12 September 1854 at Doune, daughter of William Moir (1813-1891) in Netherton and Grace McFarlane. Six of their eight children were living at No. 6 in 1901: George Adam (born 1885), John H Adam (born 1886), Arthur G Adam (1887), Catherine Grace Adam (1891), Isabella Hilda Adam (1894) and Christina E Adam (1897).
