George Kay

George Kay was listed at No. 1 in the directories for 1878/79 and 1879/80. He appears to have then moved to 15 Spring Gardens, Abbeyhill, where he and his family were recorded in the 1881 census. George Kay was born at Leith on 28 August 1847, son of William Kay and Jane Gavin. In 1881 he was described as a clerk in a money order office, and in 1877 as a timber salesman. He married Elizabeth Stark on 28 December 1875, in Edinburgh. They had two sons born before moving to No. 1 Malta Terrace, named Ronald G Kay (born 1876) and Frederick Arthur Kay (born on 28 April 1877).
