Robert Stewart

Robert Stewart was listed as a writing master at Malta House when J. Cameron’s school operated there.1 This may have been the same Robert Stewart, teacher of writing, arithmetic and book-keeping, who was also listed at 22 South Hanover Street.2 The duplication of entries in the directory suggests he may not have been resident at Malta House.

Robert Charles Stewart was at 11 South St Andrews Street between 1828 and 1837.3 He died there of ‘inflamation’ at the age of 48 and was buried on 29 July 1837.4

He married Sarah Powell at Liverpool on 01 August 1820.5 They had a daughter Alice Stewart born in Edinburgh in 1821.6
