Thomas Dickson, gardener, was listed at Malta House in 1828.[1] He was previously resident in India Place.[2]
He does not appear to have been a member ofthe Dickson family who were prominent nursery and seedsmen in Edinburgh at this time. However, Thomas Dickson, son of seedsman James Dickson, founder of James Dickson & Sons, was born in 1810[3] and would have been only 18 years when his namesake occupied Malta House. James Dickson’s brother Thomas, also a seedsman, died in 1817.[4]
