Elizabeth Bews was one of two domestic servants at No. 9 in 1891. She was born at Deerness, Orkney on 27 February 1867, daughter of mason Gavin Bews and Betsy Foubister. Elizabeth Bews died tragically at 44 Charlotte Street on 20 February 1892, from cocaine poisoning, taken when suffering from toothache. She was in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
