Thomas Gifford

Thomas Gifford Esq. died at No. 8 Malta Terrace on 6 January 1835, aged 45.¹ He was the son of Gideon Gifford of Busta and Grace Nicolson, born 08 June 1789. He was in the service of the Honourable East India Company and styled of Hillswick.²

He married Janet Scott on 19 June 1821 at Delting, Shetland.³ She was the daughter of John Scott of Melby, Shetland and Barbara Nicolson, born 23 October 1802.⁴ Mrs Gifford was listed at 7 Great Stuart Street in 1836,⁵ where her youngest son died on 10 February that year.⁶
