John R C Horne

John R. C. Horne and Winifred A. Horne were listed at No. 7 Malta Terrace in the electoral registers of 1951, 1952 and 1953. The couple had previously lived at 37 Melville Street.¹

John Renton Cameron Horne married Winifred Alice Stanton at Bournemouth on 24 December 1938.² He was born in Glasgow on 11 July 1900, son of William Renton Horne, a journeyman brass moulder, and his wife Jeanie Dickson.³ In the 1920s he lived at 134 Cardross Street, Glasgow with his mother and siblings.⁴ When he married his first wife, Sheila Dorothy Goodman, in 1929 he was a dance hall manager in Glasgow.⁵ In 1939, when he was living in Poole, Dorset, his occupation was refrigeration engineer⁶ and in 1960, together with his second wife, he established the company Clyde Refrigeration Ltd., in Glasgow. John R. C. Horne died at Largs in 1989.⁷

Winifred Alice Stanton was born 12 November 1910 at Mortlake, Surrey, daughter of William George Stanton, a motor cab driver, and Alice Reeve.⁸ She died in Edinburgh in 1999.⁹
