Anders G Hogström and Mrs Jean D. Hogström were at 7 St Bernard’s Row 1928 to 1930.1 He was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1891, son of Anders Petter Hogström, a school janitor, and Ingrid Christina Anderson.2 In 1913 he was an assistant chemist in Duns, Berwickshire and he registered as a chemist and druggist in January 1921.3 Later that year was recorded in the census working as a chemist for John T. Coats & Co.4 When he admitted embezzling £3 18s 6d from his employer at the Edinburgh Police Court on 02 September 1926 he was fined and lost his job.5
Anders G. Hogström married Jean Donaldson at Duns, Berwickshire on 06 June 1913.6 She was born on 24 April 1889 daughter of John Donaldson, a joiner, and Elizabeth Aiton.7 They were living at 1 Albion Road, Edinburgh by 1915, when A. G. Holstrom advertised violin and piano lessons,8 and remained at that address until 1927. Jean Donaldson or Hogstrom died in Sweden on 05 August 1983.9
Five years before she married, Jean Donaldson, a dressmaker, had an illegitimate daughter, Elizabeth, born on 23 November 1908.10 The father was Walter Elliot, an engineer in Duns.11 In the 1921 census this daughter, then aged 12, was recorded as Elizabeth Hogstrom.12 She married Leslie Stuart Prentice in 192613 and was listed with him at 7 St Bernard’s Row in the electoral register 1928-1930. She died in 1934.14
Anders G. Hogstrom and Jean Donaldson had a daughter, Ingrid Jean Hogstrom, born in 1919.15 She would have been around ten years old when her parents and married sister lived at 7 St Bernard’s Row (1928-1930). She married Arne Låftman in Sweden in 1945.16
