Robert Fraser Esq. took up residence at Malta House in 1818, after several years out of Scotland. He was married and had a son born there on 1 August 1818. A year later, he went to London with two daughters, leaving his wife and younger children at Malta House. Robert Fraser’s place of domicile was disputed when the Edinburgh watchmakers Reid and Auld began legal proceedings to recover a debt from him. In 1820 and 1824 he was styled ‘late of Malta House’.
