George Hamilton was resident at No. 7 between 1892 to 1897,1 living with his mother and step-father Robert Somerville. He was born at Duddingston on 08 August 1862, the second son of James Clarkson Hamilton and Helen Anderson.2 His father, clerk to the Colonial Life Assurance company, died in 1866. His mother remarried in 1871. George Hamilton was described as an apprentice law clerk in 18813 and a ‘solicitor general clerk’ in 1891,4 when the family was living in Raeburn Place. In 1901, after their removal from No. 7 to 24 Pitt Street, he was a law agent.5 He was still resident at 24 Pitt Street when he died on 10 June 1933.6
