Mrs Christian (or Christina) Douglas and members of her adult family occupied No. 6 from 1901 to 1912, when they moved next door to No. 5. She was the widow of John Campbell Douglas, an accountant and company secretary, who died on 10 February 1885 at Southwick Engine Works, Durham.[1] She was born in Edinburgh on 18 December 1841, the daughter of William Edward, a butler, and his wife Mary Lee.[2] She died at No. 5, a few months after the move, on 23 January 1914.[3]
The 1911 census records Christian Douglas and six of her unmarried children living at No. 6.[4] The children were: Mary Lee Douglas, aged 40; Isabella Campbell Douglas, aged 38; John Campbell Douglas, aged 37; William Clark Douglas, aged 33; Janet Douglas, aged 30; and, Henry Douglas, aged 27.
