Mrs James Walker was listed at No. 4 in the directories from 1832/33 to 1836/37. She appears to have then moved to 29 St Bernard’s Crescent, where she is listed until 1841. Jane Somerville married James Walker at Athelstaneford, East Lothian on 21 October 1828. He was a farmer. She was born at Athelstaneford on 10 December 1805, daughter of Andrew Somerville and Margaret Brown. She died 18 October 1879 at 4 Trinity Crescent, Leith.
Jane Somerville and James Walker had a son born at Wittinghame 25 February 1829, named Francis Walker, after his grandfather. He was recorded at 29 St Bernard’s Crescent in 1841 and undoubtedly lived at No. 4 with his mother. He died at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu on 4 April 1849, in the service of the East India Company.
