William Napier, a music teacher, lived with his family at No. 4 from about 1837 to 1844. He was born in Midlothian c.1800 and married Elizabeth Richardson on 19 May 1818, at Edinburgh. They had eight of their children living at No. 4 at the time of the 1841 census: Sophia Napier (born 3 March 1819), John Napier (born 24 May 1823), Eliza Napier (born c.1830), Mary Napier (born c.1831), Helen Napier (born c.1833), Charlotte Napier (born c.1835), William Napier (born c.1838), Marion Napier (born 27 January 1839).
