Peter Burn

Peter Burn, a retired Commander in the Royal Navy, lived for a short time at No. 6 about 1849. He died there, unmarried, on 12 May 1849. He attained the rank of Master in 1794, and retired from the navy in 1846. He participated in the naval battle of Copenhagen, on board H.M.S. Russell, in 1801.

Peter Burn came from an East Lothian family with property in Aberlady. He was probably the son of Hugh Burn and Grizzel Forest baptised at Aberlady on 23 November 1765. He was uncle to Peter Burn Jr. who was also at No. 6 in 1849.
