George Riddle, a plumber, lived at 7a St Bernard’s Row between 1919 and 1923.<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He was born 29 March 1892 at Newington, son of George Riddle, also a plumber, and Margaret McCormick Allison.<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He enlisted in the army in November 1915, became a corporal in 1917, serving in France between 16 April 1916 and 06 February 1919. He transferred to the Royal Air Force in April 1918, to work as a coppersmith.<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> In 1921, while resident at 7a St Bernard\u2019s Row, he was a plumber employed by the firm Cossar and Archer.<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> In March 1923, he emigrated to New York, USA with his brothers David and Frederick.<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> His wife and children followed in December 1924<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and his parents, for a visit, in 1935.<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1940 George Riddle was working as an employed plumber in the Bronx, New York, living at 8 Poplar Avenue.<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He was at the same address and with the same occupation in 1950.<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He died in the Bronx, New York on 03 June 1958.<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

A few days after he enlisted, George Riddle married Annie Chisholm Dallas on 26 November 1915, at Edinburgh.<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> She was born on 31 October 1890, daughter of James Dallas and Annie Fowler, who hailed from Aberdeenshire.<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

George Riddle and Annie Dallas had two children, both born at 7a St Bernard\u2019s Row. Their son George was born there on 15 November 1919.<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span> In 1940 he was recorded living with his parents in the Bronx, working as a supermarket clerk.<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He moved to Detroit, Michigan where he married Doreen Sheldrake on 28 March 1942.<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> In 1950 he was working in the auto industry in Detroit, Michigan, USA.<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He died in Otsego County, Michigan on 21 August 1992.<\/span>17<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Their daughter Marjorie Ann Riddle (registered as Annie Margaret Riddle) was born on 02 January 1922.<\/span>18<\/sup><\/a><\/span> She married Burton Wilbur Baker in 1941<\/span>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and died in New York on 06 March 1974.<\/span>20<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
