George Adam and his large family were resident at No. 6 when the 1901 census was taken,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> but do not appear to have lived there for long. He was listed there in the electoral register only in 1900-01.<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He was born at Monymusk on 02 August 1843, son of Peter Adam, a carpenter, and his wife Catherine Gerrie.<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> In 1901 he was described as a merchant draper,<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> having worked his way up from being draper\u2019s warehouseman in 1871.<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> The family moved to Glasgow after leaving Malta Terrace, and were living at 13 Lawrence Street, Partick in 1911.<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> He died at Kirklea, Brodick, Bute on 04 October 1930.<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

George Adam married Isabella Moir on 24 July 1879 at Netherton farm, Thornhill, near Stirling.<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> She was born 12 September 1854 at Doune, daughter of William Moir in Netherton and Grace McFarlane.<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> She died at Paisley on 15 March 1931, a few months after her husband. Her home address at the time was Kirklea, Brodick, Bute.<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

George Adam and Isabella Moir had eight children. The two eldest, Peter and William, emigrated to North America in 1900, but the remaining six were living at No. 6 in 1901.<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
