Obituary from Gardeners' Chronicle, 16 Jan 1897-known Aberdeen firm of Messrs. Cardno & Darling, Seedsmen and Nurserymen. Mr. Darling was a native of Dalkeith, and came to Aberdeen in 1839, being employed as gardener at Woodhill, then belonging to the Grants of Monymusk. There he remained for twelve years. He then entered into partnership with Mr. George Cardno.
