Alexander Cardno, shoemaker, Fraserburgh, was a son of Alexander Cardno, wright, Woodside, Aberdeen and his wife Agnes Gavin. He was baptised on 4th August 1792 (St Andrews, Aberdeen). For a time he was a shoemaker in Aberdeen where he was ressident at the time of his marriage. He married at Aberdeen on 8th August 1816 Isobel Cardno, daughter of John Cardno, farmer, Fraserburgh, son of Peter Cardno, Millotwn of Phingask (Aber Mar Reg). In the spring of 1818, Alexander Cardno and his wife went to Fraserburgh where they settled and where he continued his business as a shoemaker. isobel cardno died on 2nd May 1820 aged 29, leaving two daughters. Alexander Cardno married secondly Anna Brown. He died on 13 December 1858, having a son by his second wife.
