124 Aberdeen Evening Express, 6 May 1884: About a month ago a boy named Cardno, eight years of age,son of Mr Charles Cardno, railway carter, received a hurt by falling on his head at school while at play, from the effects of which he has died. Little appears to have been thought of the accident until eight or ten days ago, when serious symptoms appeared. Alexander Cardno (35) , 75 Gairn Terrace, Aberdeen, fish curer, was killed when his pedal cycle was involved in a collision with a motor lorry. The accident occurred near the junction of the South Deeside road and tehe road leading to Heathcot Blairs. Cardno received severe head injuries when thrown against a dyke.
