  On 20 Sep 1528, Henry Kemp of Thornistoun obtained a letter under the Privy Seal of the gift of the unlaw of 40 pounds which Mr Henry Spittal incurred for not presenting Robert Cardnocht at the last Justiciar at Aberdeen for art and part of the slaughter of Alexander Hay of Ardendraucht.[Reg Privy Seal, I, p.580]
