| Charles Millet Cardno, Jr., beloved husband of Patricia Cardno, and loving father to three daughters Mela, Cara, and Krista died Monday, January 16, 2017 at the age of 84. Born in Chicago, IL on Flag Day 1932, he was the only son of Charles Millet Cardno, Sr. and Lucile Cardno. He attended The University of Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Technology, earning degrees in both Architectural and Mechanical Engineering. Charles served as a Sergeant Major in the Korean War, receiving a war medal for his participation in the Korean Military Advisory Group and commendations for his building of a school and developing fresh water systems for the local people. Upon his return, Charles met the love of his life and remained a devoted husband and father for nearly sixty years. He retired as an accomplished Architect and Design Engineer. He was an avid photographer and camera collector, loved music, especially Jazz, and enjoyed classic cars. Charles was a faithful, active member of his church for forty-five years, serving at many levels. A passionate teacher, he planted seeds of faith in everyone who knew him through his words and by example. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; three daughters, Mela Cardno, Cara Lauler (Mike), Krista d'Eustachio (Tony); seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. |
