Family's link with St Fergus
The last link with a former lengthy association with the Burn Mill, St Fergus, has been removed with the death of Mr Alexander Cardno, Katteburn, Inverugie, in his ninety-fifth year.
The milling business was in the hands of Mr Cardno's grandfather, and later of his father, and when the latter died, as a young man, Mr Cardno carried on until his retirement at the age of sixty-nine.
Apart from his wide connection with farmers while at the mill, Mr Cardno took a particularly keen interest in horticulture, and was an enthusiastic supporter of the St Fergus flower show in former years. Even after going into retirement at Kan he hae retained his interest in flowers, and he spent much of his time in the care of a large garden.
Mr Cardno is survived by a family of three sons and three daughters.
It is rather remarkable that his father, mother and three sisters have all been

Francis William Christie M.A., to Alexandeer Cardno, Manager of the Fraserburgh Commercial Company, son of James Cardno (who died at "Belmont," Fraserburgh, aged 82 years, buried 27th January, 1905), and his wife, Margaret Wilson. Alexander Cardno died at 53 Duthie Terrace, Aberdeen 15t5th December, 1914, aged 63 years, and was buried from St. Mary`s Episcopal Church, Aberdeen to Springbank Cemetery, Aberdeen 3 days later. From his earliest years he acquired the taste for music. In November 1869, he became an original member of the Fraserburgh Musical Association, and acted as Secetary and Treasurer for several years. In 1872 he was appointed organist to St. Columba`s Episcopal Church, Lonmay, and continued to discharge his duties efficiently and faithfully till 1890. Three years later he transferred to St. Peter`s Episcopal Church, Fraserburgh, and was rarely absent from service till he relinquished the post in 1912. By his wife Mary Jane Jaffray, he had issue as follows: 1. Mary Cardno born at Fraserburgh, 2nd Aug. 1899, baptised by Rev. Henry Fyfe, B.A., Minister of St. Peter`s Episcopal Church, Fraserburgh, 1st. Oct. 1899; died unmarried at 53 Duthie Terrace, Aberdeen 4th July 1920 and buried Springbank Cemetery, Aberdeen 3 days later. 2. Margaret Cardno, born at Fraserburgh, 3rd. Nov. 1900, baptised by Rev.
